SEPTEMBER CLASSROOM NEWS:

The children are excited for the holiday season and have been sharing upcoming activities and
celebrations with their friends! Thank you all so much for your generosity and kindness over the past
few weeks. Our classroom collected forty food items for the food bank in November, and several
families made donations on their own in December! We have also received many generous donations
for our classroom for the Mitten Tree and the Giving Tree collections. The children are eager to use the
new materials and furniture from the Giving Tree donations as we get everything settled in the
classroom.
When the children return to school on Monday, January 6 th , we will be welcoming two new
students to our classroom who are transitioning from the toddler program. A warm welcome to Wilder
and Allyson and their families! In January we will focus on dinosaurs for our thematic work. This is
always a popular topic for the children! We will also be discussing how different animals survive in the
cold weather through hibernation, migration and adaptation. On Wednesday, January 15 th we will tie
this topic into our annual Pajama Day. Children are welcome to wear pajamas to school on this day and
bring one stuffed animal to class. It would be helpful for your child to bring a realistic stuffed animal,
such as a bear or bird, rather than a fictional or animated character to use with our activities for the day.
If your child does not usually attend school on Wednesdays, he/she is welcome to join us for either the
morning or afternoon class that day. In addition to pajamas, it would be helpful for each child to bring a
pair of pants or snow pants to wear over pajamas when we go outside that day.
I hope you all enjoy the holiday season and look forward to seeing the children soon in January!
